pokemon has been an interest of mine for a very long time. it's been on and off, of course, but it's probably been the most consistent one throughout my life. i have bouts of obsession with my interests, but this one keeps a place in my heart even if i'm not actively playing the games or watching an anime of it!
i'm not sure when exactly it began, but my earliest memory, regarding the games, is of my brother handing me Pokemon Black 2- he maybe finished it, and didn't want it anymore? anyways, i'd had been 6 when it had released, so maybe this was when i was 7.. crazy to think about. i know it was before x&y released! all of that to say, it was my first pokemon game. and i fell in love!! i was engrossed in the story (despite not knowing anything about the prequel), and i loved catching all the cute pokemon and just exploring the world. i adored watching the seasons and weather change, and spent hours in castelia and nimbasa.
but i think i was into the anime before that. the fun thing about pokemon is that you don't even need to be a fan of the games to get into it. there's the tcg and anime, and some people just like collecting the plushies! it's really easy to get into, and you don't have to play the games in order necessarily, which i feel like is why it has such a huge fanbase.
anyways, even with the ups and downs of the game series, i still have a lot of fun with it. i haven't finished many of the games-- i've beat black 2, Y, alpha sapphire, moon, and legends: arceus. though i haven't 100%-ed them.. i'd really like to go through and play more of the main games eventually! writing this is making me want to buy a 3DS so i can play all the DS pokemon games...
but yeah ^_^ pokemon is really cool. i love the worldbuiling, characters, and stories that are told within the world. it's brought a lot of joy into my life, which is why i wrote this little letter about it. someday i want to make a dedicated shrine, too!
